Hidefumi IMURA

Prof. Hidefumi Imura is a Senior Fellow of IGES, and Professor at the Global Cooperation Institute for Sustainable Cities of Yokohama City University. He studied statistical physics at the University of Tokyo. In 1974, he joined Japan Environment Agency, and then worked for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Yokohama Municipal Government. Having engaged in environmental policy making in national, international and local institutions, he moved to Kyushu University in 1988, where he was Professor at the Institute of Environmental Systems until August 2000. Then he was Professor for Environmental Systems Analysis and Planning, Graduate School of Environmental Studies, Nagoya University until March 2010. Prof. Imura has a wide range of expertise covering domestic and international environmental policy issues, environmental technologies, environmental economics, and environmental information. He has carried out extensive studies on environmental policy issues in China.
