脱炭素社会の構築には温室効果ガスの排出量を実質的にゼロとしなければならず、それは社会全体の構造的変革を視野に入れた課題であり、社会的な合意形成と政治的な意思決定を必要とする。その実現には将来の社会を担う若者の意見を考慮することが必須であるが、それを集約し、統合したメッセージとして社会や行政機関等に発信することは容易ではない。本稿では、こうした困難の背景を分析するとともに、実際に脱炭素社会の構築に向けた講義シリーズを大学で開講し、受講者とともにメッセージをとりまとめ、それを発信するに至った取組を振り返り、それを効果的に進めるための方策について考察する。
