Measurement, Reporting and Verification (MRV) for low carbon development: Learning from experience in Asia (Kazuhisa Koakutsu, Kenta Usui, Aya Watarai, Yusuke Takagi (edt.))
Key Messages • The wastewater sector—particularly wastewater-biogas-energy (WBE) system—presents an opportunity to reduce GHG emissions and tap into renewable energy. In Thailand, several WBE projects have been introduced through the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) as well as by “unilateral” investments from the private sector in order to treat...

This study is an effort to trace the implication of tidal fluctuation on coastal groundwater quality for different aquifers in case of Saijo plain, western Japan, through major ion, heavy metal and isotopic chemistry as well as to estimate aquifer parameters by tidal response method. Time series analysis for chemical characteristics depicts that...

Arsenic contamination in groundwater is of increasing concern because of its high toxicity and widespread occurrence. This study is an effort to trace the factors responsible for arsenic enrichment in groundwater of the middle Gangetic Plain of India through major ion chemistry, arsenic speciation, sediment grain-size analyses, and multivariate...
Presentation
Asia Pacific Initiative (API)-Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance (DMHA) Training Course, 3rd November 2009, Video Conference between UNU, AIT, and The University of Hawaii
The presentation aims at improving the understanding of drought and its management using a case study of India. The presentation starts with historical background of drought and its impacts in India and dwells into drought response strategies adapted over the years, problems with those strategies and tries to identify a way forward. Drought...
